La Mano Mágica  (#22)
Macedonio Alcalá 203, Centro
La Mano Mágica has long been Oaxaca's premier folk art shop with an extensive selection of choice crafts and art works from Oaxaca and elsewhere in Mexico. Although prices tend to be high, the selection is unique and represents some of the best folk artists working today. The store especially showcases the exceptionally fine wall hangings by Teotitlán artist-weaver Arnulfo Mendoza, and serves also as a gallery space for paintings and graphics by Mexican artists.

Que Tenga Buena Mano  (#13)
Constitución 108, Centro
Artesanía shops are a dime a dozen in Oaxaca, most just clones of each other. However this hole-in-a-wall, no-décor place with an odd name (it means "Having a Knack for...") is clearly different and offers an interesting and eclectic mix of folk art items, old and new textiles, traditional toys and reproduction silver jewelry. There is a lot crammed into a very small space here, so look carefully. The owner, Francisco Jesus Hernandez, has long worked in the artesanía field and is knowledgeable and helpful. (He can also repair jewelry.) This is a shop well worth seeking out for traditional popular art.
