MYTH 2
The name Monte Albán derives from the white-flowering trees that grow on the archaeological site.
No one knows the source of the name Monte Albán, but there are other equally possible explanations. One is that it was named for the Duque de Alba, a weathy Spanish noble. Another is that it means Mount "Dawn." But Albán is NOT a translation of its prehispanic name which made reference to jaguars.
